Description : The German town of Klein Rönau, which is Pszczyna`s partner town is a member of the German Schleswig-Hölstein Union of Municipalities and Communes. On 4th May 1954 the Union established a company dealing with municipal waste management in all the municipalities and communes belonging to the Union. This is how WEGE-ZWECKVERBAND from the town of Bad Segeberg, the capital of the district was set up. PIK made contacts with the company as a result of which in the autumn of 2000 at the invitation of WZV`s President Herr Jens Kretschmer a group of staff from PIK paid a visit to their German counterparts. They learned about the operation of a modern office offering municipal services to 94 municipalities and communes. We saw their customer services practices both at the Company`s offices as well in the street. We were impressed with the dedication and commitment shown by all the staff of WZV as well as their extensive professional knowledge. We were able to see the facilities we were interested in such as incinerators, noxious waste disposal site and municipal landfill site, composting sites, waste water treatment plants, etc. There is a lot we can learn from our German partners. WZV gave a BOMAG compactor to our company as a gift. The machine is used with excellent results at Pszczyna`s landfill site.
